Without the Spirit (line), you will be lost fishing a jig
The Holy Ghost PT.3
Your line choice is the final piece to "The Holy Trinity of Jig Fishing", and this choice can be crucial to your jig fishing. Fluorocarbon is the best choice in line when fishing a jig. Fluorocarbon is tough and less stretch than any other line with the exception to braided line in comparison.I tried many brands and had many issues when I first began using fluorocarbon. From bird nesting to breakage, I could go on for days about the problems I had with this line. I had no faith in it what so ever. Through trial and error I learned about fluorocarbon, and regained faith in its attributes. I first learned, not all fluorocarbon lines are the same. Some brands were only fluorocarbon coated. Meaning the center core of the line was made of a different material. Second thing I learned is different levels of quality. You want to make sure the line you purchase is 100% fluorocarbon. Inexpensive fluorocarbon usually is a good indication of poor quality fluorocarbon line.
Topping the list of fluorocarbon lines that I've used and have faith in. Seaguar, Vicious Elite, Trilene Professional Grade. Other brands that get great reviews from other anglers, Sunline & Gamma. My personal choice is Seagaur! I've used the entire line-up from Seaguar, from Red Label to Tatsu. As it relates to this blog, my jig setup is spooled with 20lb Seaguar AbrasX
One might ask why line choice is the "Holy Ghost", in this Trinity. Fluorocarbon is the "Spirit" in your jig setup. Unlike the Father & Son which are more tangible at times, as anglers we tend to forget about our line. Without the Spirit (line), you will be lost fishing a jig.
